In Southwestern Colombia, in the department of Cauca, municipality of
Santander de Qulichao, in the cemetary of the town of Mondomo, a group
of citizens, indigenous, and Afro-Colombians, are peacefully exercising
their constitutional rights in the in the framework of the National Day
of Agrarian and Popular Protest.
Around 4:15 in the afternoon the Colombian Special Armed Forces of
the Anti-Guerrilla and Riot police, who from helicopters and land are
launching tear gas, ground iron and glass shrapnel explosives, rubber
bullets and firearms against the civilians gathered.
As a result of the action of state terrorism, the following persons have
been confirmed as injured:
Estela Fernandez, shot in the leg.
Jeovany Chocue Peña, a 17-year-old minor, wounded in the chest.
Javier Quitumbo, wounded in the forehead.
Cornelio Yunda, shot in the leg.
Misael Gemuel, shot in the buttocks.
Gerardo Barona, shot in the left hand.
Edin Daniel Palco, shot in the head.
As we speak, the unarmed civilians from the municipalities of Miranda,
Corinto, Caloto, Jambalo, Toribio and Caldono continue to be indiscriminately
attacked.
