In Southwestern Colombia, in the departament of Cauca, municipality of
Santander de Qulichao, in the cemetery of the town of Mondomo, a group
of citizens, indigenous, and Afro-Colombians, are peacefully exercising
their constitutional rights in the in the framework of the National Day
of Agrarian and Popular Protest.
They continue to be repressed by the Colombian Special Armed Forces of
the Anti-Guerrilla and Riot police, who from helicopters are launching
tear gas, explosives, rubber bullets and firearms against the civilians
gathered, with an undetermined number of wounded.
As we speak, it has been confirmed that the peasant- farmer José EduardoTombe
was wounded by an explosive launched by the Military Police, which seriously
injured one of his hands.
The army and police, until the present have prevent the entrance of a
medical brigade and have fired upon a medical brigade that is attending
one of the injured.
The site continues to be indiscriminately attacked where unarmed civilians
from the municipalities Miranda, Corinto, Caloto, Jambalo, Toribio y Caldono
are concentrated.
